There are two Mazda Connect systems: Mazda Connect and Mazda Connect 2. Distinguishing between them is straightforward. If the main menu looks like this you have Mazda Connect first-generation system.

It’s important to note that in some markets in South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, Mazda CX-5 and CX-9 vehicles come with the first-generation system. However, in European and North American markets, these same vehicles exclusively feature the second-generation system.
Mazda Connect first generation. You can change the region and language package by simply reprogramming the head unit with the firmware corresponding to the new region. For instance, if a car was originally imported from the domestic Japanese market to Europe, you would need to reflash Mazda Connect with European firmware. Mazda Connect 2 In this system, you cannot change the region and update the firmware as easily as in the first generation. It is not possible to do this remotely. Currently, it requires direct access to the vehicle and the head unit. The process takes 12-14 hours of work, and the cost can be quite high.
